There are 12 valedictorians and eight salutatorians in the Penn High School Class of 2010.
Valedictorians Seth Apol, of Granger, son of Shari and Philip Apol, played varsity tennis and is a member of the National Honor Society. He plans on studying philosophy at Calvin College.

Tyler Barnum, of Granger, is the son of Collette and Thomas Barnum. He was executive treasurer of the student council and co-captain of the soccer team. He plans to attend Johns Hopkins University to major in biological sciences.

Andrew Bushnell, of Mishawaka, is the son of Elise Gettleman and Peter Bushnell. He is senior class president of the student council, co-editor in chief of the yearbook and was named to the Academic All-State tennis team. He plans to major in international affairs at Indiana University Bloomington.

Jayne Ellis, of Mishawaka, is the daughter of Patty and Steve Ellis. Her activities include Key Club, Spanish Club and softball. She plans to study Spanish and psychology at Wellesley College.

Joshua Folk, of Granger, is the son of Laurel Malkin and David Folk. His activities include Indiana Math League, Key Club and Quiz Bowl. He plans to study civil engineering and Spanish at Purdue University.

Brad Hipsher, of Mishawaka, is the son of Donna and Ronald Hipsher.

He is an Eagle Scout and a member of Penn’s orchestra. He plans to study music education at Indiana University.

Caitlin Klein, of Mishawaka, is the daughter of Beth and Jeff Klein. She is a National Merit Finalist and has been involved in marching band and orchestra.

She plans to attend the University of Notre Dame.

JoHanna Manningham, of Mishawaka, is the daughter of Bonnie Manningham.

She has been active in student council and cross country and was named first team all-state in tennis. She plans to attend the University of Notre Dame. Her career goal is to become a dietitian.

Kaitlin Paege, of Osceola, is the daughter of Pamela and John Paege.

She has been active in 4-H and track.

She plans to study architecture at Ball State University.

McKenzie Shenk, of Granger, is the daughter of Mindy and Doug Shenk.

She is executive president of student council and has been involved in orchestra.

She plans to study pharmacy at Cedarville University.

Samantha Trail, of Granger, is the daughter of Kim and Steve Trail. She is vice president of the National Honor Society and co-captain of the Penn soccer team. She plans to study biology at the College of William and Mary.

Charles Cong Xu, of Granger, is the son of Alice Sigin Yang and Dale Yongli Xu. He is the leader and founder of the Penn Ping Pong Club and vice president of Model United Nations. HePlans to study biology and environmental science at the University of Notre Dame.

Salutatorians Shaina Banchik, of Granger, is the daughter of Rachel Banchik and Nathan Banchik. She has been active in cross country and track. She plans to study biology at Indiana University Bloomington.

Peter Cummings, of Granger, is the son of Jennifer and Mark Cummings. He has been involved in Key Club and track. He plans to study political science at the University of Notre Dame.

Stephanie Edmond, of Mishawaka, is the daughter of Rhonda and Eric Edmond. Her activities include National Honor Society and youth group. She plans to study accounting at Bethel College.

Bailey Landis, of Mishawaka, is the daughter of Karen and Carl Landis. She is captain of the cross country team and has been active in track, Key Club and National Honor Society. She plans to study pre-vet at Purdue University.

Doori Lee, of Osceola, is the daughter of Min Lee and Yung Lee of South Korea. Her host parents are Linda and Bob Burrell. Her activities include Academic Super Bowl math team, Key Club and Yoga Club. She plans to study studio art at Indiana University Bloomington.

Haylie Lobeck, of Granger, is the daughter of Colleen and Michael Lobeck. She has been involved in Model UN, National Honor Society and Key Club. She plans to attend Arcadia University and study chemistry on a pre-med path.

Kristin Strausborger, of Mishawaka, is the daughter of Cheryl and Randy Strausborger. Her activities include band, Ski Club and Spanish Club. She plans to major in chemistry at Purdue University.

Kala Christina Sulentic, of Osceola, is the daughter of Christina Torres and Gonsalo Torres Jr. Her activities include cheerleading and poms, choir and the student teach program. She plans to study psychology at Indiana University Bloomington.
